Why a family tree belongs here
Most memorials remember one person. A family tree remembers where they sat in everyone else. It is the difference between a photograph and knowing whose hands are just out of frame.
You do not need to be a genealogist, and you do not need it finished. Start with the person the memorial is for, add their parents and their children, and let it grow whenever someone remembers another name. Grandchildren born later can be added the day they arrive.
How you build it

Start with your person
The memorial already has them at its heart. The family tree begins with them at the centre, and everyone else is added around them.
Add a relative
Give a name. A photograph, their dates, and a line about who they were are all optional, and can be added later. Someone you only have a name for still belongs on the tree.
Say how they are related
Connect each person as a parent, child, sibling or spouse. Marriages can carry the year they began and, where it applies, the year they ended.
Arrange it your way
Drag the tree around, zoom in on a single branch, or open it full screen to take in the whole family at once. You choose who sits at the centre.
Publish when you are ready
Until you publish, the tree is visible only to you. Publishing makes it readable by the people you have invited to the memorial, and nothing else changes. You can unpublish at any time.

Common questions
Does the family tree cost extra?
No. It is part of every memorial, on both Remembrance and Legacy, at no additional cost. There is no separate product to buy and nothing to unlock.
Do I need dates and photographs for everyone?
No. A name is enough to place someone on the tree. Photographs, dates and a short note are all optional, and you can add them later, or never. A relative you only half remember still belongs there.
How far back can it go?
As far as you have names for. The tree holds ancestors, the present generation, and grandchildren, and grows in whichever direction you can fill in. Most families build outward slowly, adding people as they come to mind.
Is the family tree public?
No. Like the rest of the memorial, it is invite-only. It stays private while you build it, and once published it is readable only by the people you have shared the invite link with. It is never indexed by search engines.
Can I add to it later?
Yes, for as long as the memorial exists. People are born, marriages happen, and names surface years after the funeral. You can open the tree and add to it whenever that happens.
What happens to the tree if I stop my subscription?
The memorial, including its family tree, goes offline when the subscription ends. We keep the content for at least 30 days, so resubscribing brings everything back as it was. After that it is permanently deleted.
